Slides Preparation
Two colonies of B. tuberatus were fixed and sent in for sectioning on 14thMay 2014, wednesday. The first colony had 40-50 transverse sections (figure 1) while the second colony had 40-45 longitudinal sections (figure 2). They were both stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E). Hematoxylin is a blue-violet/brown nuclear stain while eosin is a counterstain to hematoxylin and stains red blood cells, cytoplasmic material, cell membranes and extracellular structures pink or red.
